LP2M made a breakthrough to synchronize the demands of the MBKM curriculum with KKN activities. This breakthrough answers the needs of 20 credits that must be studied by students outside the Alauddin Makassar State Islamic University. On November 20-21, 2023, the Vice Dean I and Head of Study Programs at UIN Alauddin Makassar gathered to conduct FGDs with the aim of discussing the form of thematic KKN that is suitable for each study program. But before that, on the first day, Prof. Makkarennu, S. Hut. Ph.D explained for three hours the experience of LP2M UNHAS in translating MBKM at UNHAS. On the second day, Prof. Naim from LP2M explained the experience of UIN Tulung Agung.
For Prof. Makkarennu, who is usually called Prof. Nunu, MBKM is translated into thematic KKN and regular KKN. On the second day, Prof. Ngainum Naim explained the rules and legal basis for MBKM-based KKN. Both professors agreed that this process is very challenging and requires patience and perseverance.
Anticipating this change, the Department of English Language and Literature must prepare itself and adjust to the MBKM curriculum policy by preparing 10 credits of lectures outside the university. Therefore, English Language and Literature Department designed a form of service in the village that is in accordance with the existing course segments. In addition, students must be prepared to work harder in KKN because not only regular KKN is their task, but also thematic KKN is a task that they must complete. This thematic KKN task must produce an output in the form of a report or a production that can produce copyright.
