The
holy month of Ramadan is not just the month of patient in which Muslim have to
fast from dawn to sunset (dusk) without eating or drinking, but it is also a
month of Silaturahim, a moment in which Muslim should strengthen the ukhwah
with families, friends, and colleges.
It
is indeed important to strengthen ties and relationship between one Muslim and
the other. The Prophet said a Muslim is a brother to another. He went further
to establish some rights of a Muslim over another. These rights include such
things as aid and assistance, affection, generosity, respect, justice, equity
and fairness among others.
Therefore,
in this month of Ramadan, English Language and Literature department had a
gathering for breaking the fast. This kind of activity is also well-known as Buka
Puasa Bersama or bukber.
It
was on Monday, 3 May 2021 when all lecturers and staff of the department were
sitting together in King Fish restaurant located on Jalan Bau Mangga, near
Panakukang Mall, Makassar. Before breaking the fast, we listened
enthusiastically to the preach delivered by Ustad Dr. Barsihannor, M.Ag. Short
speech or kultum is commonly conducted while waiting for the iftar time.
We
enjoyed the food and drink after 14 hours fasting, and indeed, we thanked Allah
swt for His fortune and blessing.
Finally,
before we leave the restaurant, we took memorable pictures in this holy month
of Ramadan.
