Malang and Bali recently became the destinations for a Tourism Program organized by the English Language and Literature Department. From January 14 to January 20 2025, 29 students explored iconic tourist spots in both regions, including Mount Bromo and Santera in Malang, as well as Bedugul, Cocoa Bali, Uluwatu, Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK), Krishna, and Melasti Beach in Bali.

The program was supervised by several lecturers who teach tourisme courses, ensuring that students not only enjoyed the trip but also gained valuable academic insights throughout the journey. The lecturers guided discussions, provided explanations about the destinations, and helped students connect their experiences to their coursework.

One of the highlights for the students was visiting Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK), a cultural park that left a lasting impression on Nissa Atun Atsyania, one of the participants. "GWK is my favorite destination because it features many statues, complete with historical explanations, such as the Garuda statue," she shared. She also noted the captivating Kecak dance performances held in the evening, which are accompanied by a dramatic narration that brings the history of GWK to life.

Atsya emphasized the importance of such programs for students. "Tourism gives us valuable insights into the field, such as how to become a tour guide and the responsibilities of a travel agent. It also allows us to explore local cultures firsthand," she explained. As for future programs, she suggested focusing more on destinations rich in cultural heritage to deepen the learning experience.

With the combination of academic guidance and practical experience, the Tourism Program not only provided students with valuable insights into the tourism industry but also encouraged them to appreciate and immerse themselves in Indonesia's cultural diversity.
