April 15, 2025 — The English Language and Literature Study Program of UIN Alauddin Makassar successfully held its Lecture Series II titled "Discourse Shapes the World: Discourse Analysis and Pragmatics" on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. The event was conducted virtually via Zoom and attended by lecturers and students from the department.
The session featured Giulia Magazzù, a linguistics and translation researcher from the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy, as the guest lecturer. In her presentation, Giulia offered insightful perspectives on how discourse and pragmatics play a crucial role in shaping social realities and understanding language in context.
The event was moderated by the Head of the English Language and Literature Study Program, who also officially opened the session. The lecture sparked an engaging discussion, with participants actively asking questions and responding to the material presented.
