Makassar, 19 December 2023. The second day of FDG activities attended by department secretaries at UIN Alauddin Makassar was carried out by the presentation of each Faculty representative. In this case, the Adab and Humanities of Faculty conducted the presentation. Based on the results of the Team Discussion, it was agreed to choose the main theme "Building the Power of Information Literacy for the Future", this program aims to increase the level of information literacy among the villagers. Participants from the Adab of Faculty were attended by Hj. Khaerunnisa (Secretary of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature), Sandra Dewi Dahlan (Secretary of the Department of English Language and Literature), Muh. Arif (Secretary of the Department of History of Islamic Civilization), and Saenal Abidin (Secretary of the Department of Library Science). As for the presentation of the plan and concept of the fostered village, it was represented by Saenal Abidin. The Fostered Villages that are planned to be implemented for service implementation are Barania Village and Gunung Perak Village, West Sinjai District, Sinjai Regency.
One of the main focuses of this plan is the improvement of information literacy for children. Through a series of fun and interactive educational activities, children in the Village will be equipped with the necessary skills to access, evaluate and use information effectively.
In addition, the program also promotes the development of village libraries as learning centers that provide access to various sources of information. This initiative aims to broaden the community's horizons with books, magazines, and other literature relevant to local and global knowledge.
Not only that, the representative of the Adab and Humanities of Faculty Saenal Abidin, S.I.P., M.Hum also conveyed the importance of commitment to the learning of Arabic and English. By introducing these two languages, they hope to improve the language skills of the villagers, especially the younger generation, open up new opportunities for cross-cultural communication, and increase their access to global information.
In addition to the literacy aspect, the program also emphasizes the importance of preserving history and local wisdom. Through various activities, such as lectures, group discussions and art activities, villagers are encouraged to understand, care for and introduce their cultural heritage to future generations.
Lecturers and students from the Adab and Humanities of Faculty are actively involved in managing this program, providing mentoring, training, and supporting on going activities. These concrete steps are expected to not only increase knowledge, but also create sustainable positive effects for the development of the Village community.
This program will not only change the Village community's view on information literacy, but also provide a strong foundation for social, economic and cultural growth in the Village. With a strong partnership between the Adab and Humanities of Faculty and the Village community, this effort will hopefully serve as a model for similar initiatives across the region.
