Akhmad Hidayat, the 3rd Semester’ student of English and Literature Department has won as the III position in the 18th Japanese Speech Contest 2023 which was organized by Darma Persada University in collaboration with Takushoku University Japan, This event took place in Gedung Graha Wira Bhakti , Darma Persada University Jakarta on 2tSeptember 2023. There were students from high schools and universities who participated in this competition. Japanese Speech Contest. This contest by Darma - Jakarta in collaboration with Takushoku University - Japan. This competition was arranged in national-level event specially for Japanese language learners whoa are interested in Japanese speech.
He started learning Japanese when he studied in the first year of high school by joining Japanese organization called "KSBJ Sakura Merah". Alan Sensei as the Japanese teacher taught and guided him so he felt confident to join competition. “During the 2020 pandemic, I had spent a lot of time to study hard the language,” he added. Before joining the contest, he had quite a bit of preparation during the semester break in the last August. Besides, he also still consulted with Alan Sensei to get more advice and guidance.
Akhmad was interested in joining Japanese speech contest as he felt that learning foreign language was his passion. Besides improving Japanese skill, he believed that joining the contest will also improve his public speaking skill as well. Moreover, except Japanese, he is also interested in learning English. When he saw the Instagram account for the speech contest, there were 89 participants who were students of high school and university levels. Fortunately there were only 10 participants who were selected as the finalist. “Certainly, I'm very grateful to have been chosen as one of them for this competition,” Akhmad said. “I plan to participate in other foreign language competitions or workshops. I also have a dream to take a student exchange program or get a master's degree at a foreign university,” he closed.
