English Language and Literature Department, Adab and Humanities Faculty, UIN Alauddin Makassar held the ELITE Competition 2023 which stands for English Language and Literature Competition. This activity is the annual Agenda of the English Language and Literature Department, and this is the third time.

Different from before, this time, Elite Competition opened two competition items, namely News Anchor and Narrative Essay. There have been a total of 62 participants from various universities participating in this activity since registration opened on 21 October 2023. However, only 54 submitted and most of them registered for the Narrative Essay competition.

News Anchor participants who have submitted previous videos have been selected and the remaining top 5 will reappear in the final round which will be held on Friday, 10 November 2023 hybrid at Sultan Alauddin Hotel Makassar.

While Narrative Essay participants only go through one stage of work assessment. However, all assessments are carried out with a blind review system where the jury only assesses works objectively without knowing who and from where the author.

The jury on the two competition items did not only invite academics from internal Campus and other Campuses. But also invited practitioners who are National TVRI News Anchors and Kompas Journalists.

The winners of the News Anchor competition participants came from various universities including UIN Alauddin Makassar, Hasanuddin University  and also from UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, while the winners of the Narrative Essay Competition participants came from various universities including STB LIA Yogykarta, Hasanudin University and also UIN Alauddin Makassar.
