Makassar 10 November 2023. Located at Sultan Alauddin Hotel & Convention, English Literature and Department held an Elite Competition on Narrative Essay and also News Anchor which was attended by several universities from Indonesia including UIN Sultan Thaha Saifuddin, STBA LIA Yogyakarta, Hasanuddin University and of course from UIN Alauddin Makassar. Several students as representatives of UIN Alauddin Makassar who participated in the Narrative Essay competition and also News Anchor won the competition, they are Ikhsan Irsadi and Ahmad Syamsuri Students from 5th semester.

For Ahmad, who won fourth place in the Narrative Essay Elite Competition category, he has had an interest in writing since childhood with the aim of remembering the past, making stories or wanting to give his voice to many people. This competition is not the first time for Ahmad, he has participated in the Elite Competition in 2022 and came out as Runner Up. Ahmad will also participate in the Elite Competition next year (if it will be held again).

The motto that Ahmad always held during his education was "No matter the challenge, no matter what, we always fight and never give up."

Different from Ahmad who already had previous competition experience, for Ikhsan this was the first time and immediately came out as third place in the News Anchor competition category, even though he was nervous to appear in public, Ikhsan was able to fight his nerves and perform the best he could. Of course, there are many things that are memorable for Ikhsan, including the jury comments that are very insightful to be used as material for self-evaluation for the future. Ikhsan will also participate in the Elite Competition (if it will be held again) to continue to develop himself.

Ikhsan also has a motto that has always been held during his journey through education, was "when others see you in terms of shortcomings, then look at yourself in terms of strengths."
