One of the most impressive experiences for
English Language and Literature students is being able to study and practice
directly all the theories they have acquired while in class. English for
Tourism is one of the courses that provides opportunities for extensive
regional exploration, this course is held in the fifth semester. If previously
the tour was carried out in Bali and Surabaya, in this batch made their own mark
in the Bali and Lombok areas.
We cannot close our eyes to the fact that
these two areas outside the island of Sulawesi are really interesting to
explore further. According to several students who took part in this program,
the learning experience in Bali and Lombok was very memorable and broadened
their insight into the richness of Indonesian culture. They realize the
importance of preserving local traditions, as they have seen in the area.
Apart from providing valuable experience
for students, this activity also helps promote tourism potential in Indonesia,
especially in the Bali and Lombok areas. The local wisdom of the Sasak tribe,
including the tradition of weaving for women and fighting for men, is one of
the attractions for international tourists who are interested in getting to
know Indonesian culture and the most famous Balinese Kecak dance. The
supervisor of this course stated that this kind of activity was important to
help students understand the rich and diverse cultural values of Indonesia.
"We hope that this experience can open students' eyes about the importance
of preserving and appreciating cultural diversity in Indonesia," said
Nasrum. These hopes will then be held and remembered by generations in terms of
the importance of preserving the cultural riches of the Indonesian.
