Putri Sri Ardianti, a third-year student of the English Language and
Literature Department at Alauddin Islamic
State University of Makassar, was chosen to be one of the speakers at
the Cultivating a Growth Mindset for a Brighter Life and Career webinar, along
with four other speakers from the Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, and the
United States. This activity was carried out in collaboration with the Global
Women's Circle, BSI Learning Center, and the English Language and Literature
Department Student Association, and took place virtually via the Zoom meeting
application on Saturday, March 16.
Being the only speaker from Indonesia and still studying at the
university did not diminish his confidence in sharing.
"I felt inferior, especially because I thought there were many people
who would be cooler to represent Indonesia, what's more my
English was still not good, but I thought this opportunity might not come
twice, so I took the courage. 3 days before the webinar, to be honest, I felt
very nervous and the peak was D-1
to the webinar. I asked myself several times whether I could really do it or
not. This question was answered on the day, and I was able to do it. Although
there are still several things that need to be improved, I am optimistic that in
the future I will be even better. And my feelings during the webinar were very
nervous, perhaps because there were many extraordinary people who were
participants and also many friends in my department who took part, and I know
that many of them speak better English than me, but back to my process, they
are different; maybe they learned English from elementary school while I only
really started when I decided to become a student majoring in English language
and literature. " The point is, sis. The biggest reason I dared to be a
speaker at yesterday's webinar was that I didn't want to miss the opportunity,
and it could be that being a speaker is one of the doors to my dream."
On that occasion, Putri explained a lot about her struggles to continue Her education, especially
after finishing high school, when She didn't get support from her family or environment. Apart from
that, Putri also shared her experience of how she was able to apply a growth
mindset to remain consistent with her decision to continue studying.
The material presented by Putri also discussed her work as the founder of the Rumah Perempuan Podcast in the Lingkar Perempuan community, where for this year she has been actively conducting interviews with sources from various educational and work backgrounds to be included in the podcast.
