The English Education Department at the State Islamic College (IAIN)
Palopo and the English and Literature Department at the State Islamic
University (UIN) Alauddin Makassar have signed a Letter of Agreement and
conducted Visiting Lectures in the campus of IAIN palopo as part of their
cooperation. As a lecturer from UIN Alauddin Makassar, I was designated to
conduct a Visiting Lecture at IAIN Palopo on April 30th, 2024.
Husnaeni, S.Pd.I., M.Pd., the head of the English Education Department, warmly
welcomed and appreciated this visit, and Fadliyah Muin, S.Pd.I., M.Pd., the
lecturer teaching Psycholinguistics in this department, accompanied me in the
classroom. As the lecturer responsible for teaching Psycholinguistics, I
covered the topic of ‘Children vs Adults in Second Language Learning’.”
The students were enthusiastic about learning the material, as it helped
them understand how children and adults may be treated differently when
learning a second or foreign language, especially English, which is spoken as a
foreign language in Indonesia. Additionally, they gained new insights related
to the cooperation between the two universities. In the English and Literature
Department at UIN Alauddin Makassar, they can choose any subject they are
interested in, as part of the realization of the MBKM curriculum. Husnaeni
conveyed this information in her closing speech during the lecture. She hopes
that this activity can continue in the future, and the English Education
Department will also send lecturers to teach at UIN Makassar. At the end of the
lecture session, she expressed her gratitude and honoured me with a certificate
for my dedication.
