Gowa, 22 September 2025 – Students of the Internship Preparation Program for 7th-semester undergraduates of the English Language and Literature Study Program (BSI), Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Alauddin Makassar, received a special session on Religious Moderation. The material was delivered directly by Sandra Dewi Dahlan, S.Pd., M.A., Secretary of the BSI Department as well as a National Facilitator for Religious Moderation.
In her presentation, Sandra Dewi emphasized that religious moderation is one of the fundamental pillars in maintaining harmony and unity in Indonesia. The values it upholds, such as tolerance, non-violence, and adherence to the constitution, serve as key elements in strengthening national unity within the framework of the Republic of Indonesia.
“Religious moderation is not just a concept but a real practice in everyday life. Students, as the nation’s future generation, must be able to apply tolerance, avoid violence, and obey state regulations. In doing so, they can become agents of peace and guardians of harmony in society,” she said.
This material was an essential part of the internship preparation program designed for 7th-semester students, who will soon be deployed to partner institutions and companies for 45 days. With this foundation of religious moderation, students are expected not only to be academically and professionally prepared but also to develop strong social awareness and a sense of national identity.
The department reaffirmed that strengthening religious moderation among students will continue to be integrated into various academic and non-academic activities. This aligns with UIN Alauddin Makassar’s commitment to producing graduates who are knowledgeable, ethical, and capable of upholding harmony in diversity.
