Community service: BSI team conducted cultural preservation

Saturday, July 17, 2021, English and Literature department successfully held community service at the Abnaul Amir Gowa Islamic Boarding School. With the aim of increasing the understanding of the local culture of students at the Abnaul Amir Islamic boarding school, BSI lecturers and students held a cultural preservation. The activity introduced the art form of rhythmic poetic speech from the Makassar tribe in South Sulawesi Province called sinriliq. Arif, one of the sinriliq artis or speakers who told the story of sinriliq who came to this activity explained that everyone can learn sinriliq, especially teenagers while playing sinriliq in front of the participants teachers and students of Abnaul Amir boarding school. In addition, the community service team also invited students to play a drama about a local community fairy tale, namely "nenek pakkande". One of the BSI lecturers "Syahruni Junaid" in collaboration with students also sang the song "Inninawa" a Bugis song which has a deep meaning. This song is usually sung by Bugis parents when putting their children to sleep. This activity is expected to provide new experiences for students at the Abnaul Amir Islamic Boarding School and also increase their understanding and awareness to preserve various kinds of local cultures around them.
