UIN Alauddin Students Hold Children’s Literature Workshop with the Theme “Telling the Story That Can Teach and Touch”

Gowa, November 7, 2025 — A warm and enthusiastic atmosphere filled the Abdurrasyid Dg. Lurang Library in Gowa as fifth-semester students of the English Language and Literature Department, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Alauddin Makassar, held a Children’s Literature Workshop themed “Telling the Story That Can Teach and Touch.”


The event, which took place on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., featured two inspiring speakers, Sitti Maryam My Mahmudd, S.Hum. and Nurfitriana, S.S., M.Hum., and was moderated by Mukarramah, S.Hum., M.Hum.


Under the guidance of the course lecturer, Syahruni Junaid, S.S., M.Pd., the workshop aimed to enhance students’ ability to understand and write children’s literature filled with moral values and emotional depth. Both speakers shared insights on how to create stories that not only entertain but also educate, touch the heart, and spark the imagination of young readers.


Participants showed great enthusiasm throughout the session, especially during discussions about how to develop realistic child characters and embed moral lessons naturally within a story’s plot.


The event concluded with a motivational message from Syahruni Junaid, encouraging students to continue developing their creative writing skills and to view children’s literature as a meaningful medium for character education and joyful learning.
