Makassar, 1 December 2025 — The Department of English Language and Literature (Bahasa dan Sastra Inggris/BSI), UIN Alauddin Makassar, successfully held an International Lecture Series and Focus Group Discussion themed “Global Muslim Literature.” The academic event, attended enthusiastically by BSI students, provided a dynamic forum for exploring contemporary Muslim literary studies within a global context.

The program featured two distinguished speakers, as presented on the event’s official poster: Prof. Danielle Haque from Minnesota State University and Dr. Hasnul Insari Djohar from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Both speakers delivered insightful presentations on emerging discourses in Muslim literature, cross-cultural narratives, and the evolving role of literary scholarship in understanding global Muslim identities.

The session was moderated by the Head of the Department of English Language and Literature, who guided the discussion effectively and facilitated an engaging exchange between speakers and participants. Students actively contributed through questions and reflections, making the event both intellectually rich and interactive.

This international forum reflects BSI’s ongoing commitment to strengthening global academic collaboration and expanding students’ exposure to interdisciplinary literary studies. The department aims to continue hosting similar programs to enrich academic dialogue and foster broader scholarly connections.
