Makassar, 29th September 2024 – Aryani Nurul Rahmawati, a student from the English Language and Literature department (BSI), successfully chaired the organizing committee for the Indonesian language debate competition at Eliot’s Eco Event Batch 4. Held at SIT Darul Fikri Makassar, the competition embraced the theme "Creative Initiatives as Real Actions to Save the Earth."
The event saw participation from seven teams representing six different schools: SMAIT Darul Fikri, MAN 2 Makassar, SMK Farmasi Yamasi, SMAN 13 Takalar, SMA 17 Makassar, and MAN 3 Bone. In collaboration with SIT Darul Fikri and the Sulawesi Selatan Education Department, the competition's jury was provided by Fraksi Pancacita.
Aryani reflected on her journey as chairperson, stating, “The first challenge was my lack of basic experience in debate competition technicalities, which made the initial planning stages unclear. Thankfully, with the support of senior members who were familiar with the process, we overcame these hurdles. The second challenge was the lack of active participation from some committee members, which caused a few activities to miss their scheduled targets. Going forward, I hope that my fellow members of Eliot’s Letters will be more active in future events, as it is a collective effort, not just the responsibility of a few. I also hope that ELCOV will continue to serve as a platform for students to develop their interests and talents."
This event marks a successful milestone for Aryani and her team, showcasing collaboration among various partners and promoting environmental awareness through student-led initiatives.
