Makassar, 27 May 2023 — Universitas Islam Negeri Alauddin Makassar reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive education through a program discussing disability services and support for students with disabilities. The event was held at the Lecture Theater (LT) Room of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities and attended by lecturers and administrative staff.
The program was led by Dr. Rosmini, Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), accompanied by Sandra Dahlan as a representative of the Disability Service Center (PLD), which has been established since 2023 to support students with special needs within the university environment.
In the welcoming speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities emphasized the importance of providing proper facilities and equal educational access for students with disabilities. He stated that every individual has the same right to education and deserves to be treated with dignity and humanity. According to him, building an inclusive academic environment is not only an institutional responsibility but also a reflection of social justice and human values.
The discussion highlighted the university’s ongoing efforts to improve accessibility, academic support, and campus facilities for students with disabilities. Participants also discussed the importance of strengthening awareness among lecturers and staff regarding inclusive learning practices and disability-friendly services.
The program aims to ensure that students with disabilities receive adequate facilities and educational support throughout their academic journey. In addition, the initiative reflects the university’s broader vision of developing a disability-friendly campus that aligns with the standards of leading global universities.
Through this program, UIN Alauddin Makassar hopes to foster a more inclusive, supportive, and equitable educational environment where all students can participate fully and achieve their academic potential without barriers.
