Makassar, October 9, 2024 — In a remarkable display of academic excellence, Mukrimah, a graduate from the Department of English Language and Literature at UIN Alauddin Makassar, has been named the top graduate of her department and faculty at the 107th graduation ceremony, earning an impressive GPA of 3.95. Mukrimah also secured the 4th highest rank across the university, showcasing her dedication and perseverance.
Mukrimah completed her studies in just 3 years and 11 months, a feat that highlights both her diligence and passion for learning. Reflecting on her academic journey, she shared that her initial interest in the English language began at a young age, which led her to choose the English Language and Literature program. However, she faced challenges along the way, particularly in the area of literature.
"I have always been passionate about learning languages, especially English, since I was a child," Mukrimah said. "But our program not only focuses on the language itself but also on literature, which was initially difficult for me because I wasn’t as interested in it. To overcome this, I pushed myself to improve my literacy skills, reading both classic and contemporary works from English and American authors."
Mukrimah’s resilience and hard work paid off, and she developed a deeper appreciation for literature, which became a key part of her success. When asked for her advice to fellow students, she shared a unique tip: "Throughout my time as a student, I always made sure to sit at the front of the class. I believe sitting in front has its advantages. It helped me stay focused, avoid distractions, and absorb the lectures better. Of course, this may not work for everyone, as each person has their own way of focusing."
Her outstanding achievements have not only earned her recognition within her department but also across the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, marking her as a shining example of academic excellence at UIN Alauddin Makassar.
