Gowa - Ikhsan Irsadi, a student from the English Language and Literature Department at UIN Alauddin Makassar, has successfully been selected as one of the 20 Youth Fellows in a program organized by INFID (International NGO Forum on Indonesian Development). INFID is a non-governmental organization focused on upholding human rights, democracy, reducing inequality, and achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia. The Youth Fellowship program provides a platform for young people to learn and voice their ideas and actions in advocating for human rights, equitable development, and sustainability in Indonesia.
Ikhsan was selected alongside 20 other participants from Sulawesi Island through a selection process based on their written works, which demonstrated their understanding and commitment to issues of human rights and democracy. As part of the program, participants will receive various training, starting from introductions and workshops conducted online, to intensive in-person training.
The program’s activities will continue with a three-day event in the city of Bitung, North Sulawesi, under the theme "Youth as Advocates for Human Rights and Democracy." In Bitung, the participants will engage in deeper discussions on human rights issues alongside experienced mentors. All participants' accommodation and transportation, including travel to and from the event location, will be fully covered by INFID.
With Ikhsan’s selection in this program, it is hoped that he can bring new knowledge and experiences that will benefit the English Language and Literature Department and strengthen the voices of students in advocating for human rights and sustainable development in Indonesia.
