The English Language and Literature Student Association (HIMABSI) has successfully carried out a three-day retreat titled Recharging Time, held from July 25 to 27 at Topejawa Beach, Takalar. The event, themed “Gather to Power Up – Towards a Better HIMABSI,” was designed as a mid-term reflection moment to evaluate organizational performance, reignite team spirit, and foster fresh ideas for the remainder of the leadership term.

The event was officially opened in the presence of representatives from the Student Senate of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, the Faculty Student Council, senior members, and other student organization leaders from the same faculty.

With a clear focus on both introspection and recreation, Recharging Time served as a meaningful platform for HIMABSI members to reflect on their journey throughout the first half of the organizational term. The retreat was not only an opportunity to evaluate past performance but also a moment to reignite the passion and commitment among members. By promoting open and healthy communication, the event strengthened the bonds within the management body and encouraged a sense of unity and belonging. Additionally, the informal and relaxed setting allowed participants to refresh their motivation and energy, while also creating a supportive environment where new ideas and innovative strategies could emerge. Ultimately, Recharging Time played a vital role in reinforcing HIMABSI’s spirit of togetherness and laying the groundwork for a more impactful and dynamic second half of the term.

The first evening featured a session called “Expression Reflection,” where members were encouraged to candidly express their thoughts and experiences. This was not only limited to the current board members but also involved junior committee members and seniors, who offered advice and constructive feedback.

The second day focused on the presentation of the Mid-Term Accountability Report, which outlined the performance and progress of each division. Although the setting was informal, the session maintained a serious tone, especially in front of former board members and senior figures. Challenges and barriers encountered during the execution of duties were openly discussed, encouraging mutual understanding and collective problem-solving.

Despite the retreat’s focus on evaluation and planning, the beachside location provided the perfect atmosphere for rejuvenation. The sessions were carefully balanced with light-hearted moments, including the much-anticipated HIMABSI League, a series of games and competitions held by the beach. These activities were aimed at enhancing team cohesion and allowing members to unwind and recharge.

The Recharging Time event proved to be more than just a retreat; it was a critical milestone in HIMABSI’s journey. Through structured reflection, honest communication, and meaningful bonding, the organization reaffirmed its commitment to growth, innovation, and unity. As HIMABSI steps into the second half of its term, the energy and insights gained from this retreat are expected to serve as a strong foundation for future initiatives.
