The Faculty of Adab and
Humaniora held its monthly morning ceremony at the end of this month in the
faculty field, bringing together the entire academic community in a shared
moment of reflection and institutional commitment. Notably, this occasion also marked
the first official working day after the Eid holiday period, during which
academic and administrative activities had been temporarily adjusted through
several days of Work From Anywhere (WFA). The ceremony was attended by the Dean
of the Faculty of Adab and Humaniora, Prof. Dr. H. Barsihannor, M.Ag. the Vice
Dean for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yusuf, M.Ag., the Vice Dean for
Finance and Administration, Dr. Irvan Muliadi, S.Ag., SS., MA. as well as all lecturers and administrative
staff. This regular gathering has become an essential academic tradition, not
merely as a formal event but as a space where institutional values are
reaffirmed, collegial relationships are strengthened, and collective
responsibility toward academic excellence is emphasized. The atmosphere of the
ceremony reflected a balance between solemnity and solidarity, as participants
stood together in recognition of their roles within the faculty’s ongoing
development. Such monthly assemblies also function as an important
communicative platform through which leadership conveys direction, evaluates
progress, and fosters a shared vision among all members of the institution.
In his address, the Dean
opened the ceremony by inviting all attendees to offer prayers for two
respected lecturers, the late Dr. Surayah, M.Pd. and ex-Vice Dean for Students
Affairs, Dr. Nurkhalis A. Gaffar, M.Pd. This moment reflected both collective
respect and a deep sense of loss within the academic community. The Dean
briefly highlighted their dedication to teaching, research, and service, noting
that their contributions have left a lasting impact on the faculty. Their
passing was framed as a reminder of the enduring value of commitment and
integrity in academic life, encouraging all members to continue their legacy
through responsible and meaningful work.
Following this
reflection, the Dean outlined the faculty’s current progress and future
direction. He noted that several departments have achieved “Unggul” (Excellent)
accreditation, emphasizing that this accomplishment should serve as a
foundation rather than an endpoint. All accredited departments are encouraged
to maintain their standards and pursue international accreditation through
improvements in curriculum, research productivity, and global collaboration. He
concluded by stressing the importance of collective commitment in sustaining
excellence and enhancing the faculty’s competitiveness at the international
level.
